Lei Muk Shue Village Sitting-out Area Gambling


Fifteen men and women were arrested and charged


The Tsuen Wan Police District Special Duty Squad, based on information and in-depth investigations, launched an anti-street gambling operation at a sitting-out area in Lei Muk Shue Village, Tsuen Wan last night (9th). During the operation, a total of 8 men and 7 women, aged between 31 and 81, were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in any place other than the casino or on the street", and seized a deck of cards, a gaming table and a small amount of cash. The 15 arrested persons also violated the Prevention and Control of Diseases (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G). Police officers have issued fixed penalty tickets to them.


The police remind members of the public that gambling on the streets is illegal. According to the law, anyone who operates or manages or controls illegal gambling on the street is convicted with a maximum fine of HK$50,000 and imprisonment for 2 years. Anyone who engages in illegal gambling on the street is convicted of a maximum fine of HK$30,000 and imprisonment for 9 months.

梨木樹邨休憩處聚賭 15男女被捕兼票控


荃灣警區特別職務隊,根據線報及經深入調查後,昨晚(9日)於荃灣梨木樹邨一休憩處展開打擊街頭賭博行動。行動中,共拘捕8男7女,年齡介乎31至81歲,涉嫌「在賭場以外任何場所或在街道上進行的賭博」,並檢獲一副紙牌,一張賭枱及小量現金。該15名被捕人士同時違反《預防及控制疾病(禁止羣組聚集)規例》(第599G章),警員已向他們發出定額罰款告票。

警方提醒市民,街頭聚賭屬違法行為。根據法例,任何人於街道上經營或管理或控制非法賭博,一經定罪,最高罰款為5萬港元及監禁2年。任何人於街道上進行非法賭博,一經定罪,最高罰款為3萬港元及監禁9個月。
